by Continental Club on November 25, 2016  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

British AirwaysBritish Airways has added to its range of Black Friday promotions with a £301 special fare on its new direct Boeing 787 Dreamliner service to Abu Dhabi. The airline is also offering the opportunity to save an additional £110 by redeeming 13,600 Avios, bringing the fare down to £190.87 return:

Members of the Executive Club will also earn Tier Points and Avios on the fare, meaning that a Gold Executive Club cardholder could make 8,520 Avios back, bringing their net outlay down to 5,080 Avios.

Bookings must be made by 23:59 on Monday 28th November 2016, for travel between 11th January & 20th March, between 21st April & 23rd May, and between 31st May & 10th June 2017.

For travellers wishing to upgrade to World Traveller Plus Premium Economy, a return fare of £716 is also available, which can be reduced to £495.87 by redeeming 32,000 Avios. The potential Avios earn-back is 13,636, leaving a net outlay of 18,364 Avios.

In all cases, the Avios discount does not rely on the availability of ‘pure’ Avios seats for redemption – potentially making this a particularly good and easy use of points.

BA A380 World Traveller

British Airways Economy & Premium Economy Sale Fares Loaded 16th June 2016

British AirwaysBritish Airways has now also loaded its World Is On Sale fares for travel in its World Traveller (Economy) and World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) cabins to destinations worldwide on selected dates through into 2017. As with the First Class and Club World sale fares must be booked by 23:59 GMT on 12th July 2016. An official ‘sale‘ page is published to the airline’s website, but the BA Low Fare Finder at ba.com is the best way to check the new fares and availability.

BA WT NEW

Fares are largely on a par with those offered in the last sale; World Traveller prices are 2% higher and World Traveller plus fares are 1% lower on average. This disguises slightly the fact that Economy fares to North American destinations are largely untouched by the Sale. Other destinations are mostly on-par with last time. By contrast, Premium Economy fares to US cities and the Middle East look to be even better value than last time around, with Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha & Dubai all from c£600 return.  One other notable fare is Sydney at £693 in Economy – even lower than the last sale fare which, as we noted at the time, was itself a very competitive fare for a non-Middle East connection.

All sale fares qualify for Avios and Tier Point credit in the British Airways Executive Club frequent flyer programme, as well as OnBusiness points for small and medium sized enterprises enrolled in that programme.

British AirwaysBritish Airways has loaded its World Is On Sale fares for travel in its World Traveller (Economy) and World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) cabins to destinations worldwide on selected dates through into 2017. As with the First Class and Club World sale fares must be booked by 23:59 GMT on 17th May 2016. An official ‘sale‘ page is published to the airline’s website, but the BA Low Fare Finder at ba.com is the best way to check the new fares and availability.

Fares are largely on a par with those offered in the last sale; World Traveller prices are 3.5% lower and World Traveller plus fares are 0.6% higher on average. That means that there aren’t any really stand-out fares compared to last time, save to say that Premium Economy to high-volume destinations on the US East Coast and the Middle East look to be good value, and Sydney at £733 in Economy is a very competitive fare for a non-Middle East connection – if not quite as low as it has been in the recent past.

All sale fares qualify for Avios and Tier Point credit in the British Airways Executive Club frequent flyer programme, as well as OnBusiness points for small and medium sized enterprises enrolled in that programme.

Flash: BA Club World New York £699 Rtn With Avios Part Pay

by Continental Club on November 26, 2015  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

British AirwaysAlthough airline sales are not unusual, it’s less common for the promotional stars align to allow passengers to benefit from two offers on the same airline at the same time. However, British Airways Executive Club members who are already used to being able to use Avios points to ‘part pay’ for their tickets can double-dip this weekend, with the airline’s current fare offers combining with another Black Friday deal to make greater savings than are usually available with Avios contributions.

BA Exec AviosAvios part payment provides for a maximum £200 saving for 30,000 Avios under normal terms and conditions, however under the current promotion the saving is increased to £700 on a Club World return ticket – for the same 30,000 Avios contribution. In combination with this weekend’s sale, the effect can be to reduce the lowest fare to just £699 return:

British Airways - Price quote 2015-11-26 08-16-29

The double dip works in World Traveller economy and World Traveller Plus premium economy too and, using the New York example, fares are from:

World Traveller £162 plus 15,000 Avios

World Traveller Plus £524 plus 15,000Avios

Destinations offered at the increased part payment saving rate are Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Washington (Baltimore), Denver, Dallas, Newark, Washington (Dulles), Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, San Francsico, San Jose, Nassau, Grand Cayman, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro & Sao Paolo, and bookings must be made by 23:59GMT on Monday 30th November 2015 – the same deadline as for the current sale fares.

Flights booked using Avios part payment earn Avios and Executive Club Tier Points at the same rates as without part payment, although they do not qualify for earnings in the British Airways OnBusiness SME loyalty programme.

Full details of the current fare sales which end at 23:59GMT on Monday 30th November 2015 can be found in our other articles:

British Airways Economy & Premium Economy Sale Fares Loaded 25th November 2015

by Continental Club on November 25, 2015  |  3 comments • Tagged as: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

British AirwaysBritish Airways has loaded a short Winter sale of World Traveller (Economy) and World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) fares for travel to destinations worldwide on selected dates. As usual, Continental Club is ahead of the public launch of the sale, giving readers the best chance to access availability before headline advertising begins. Periods of availability are generally limited and vary by destination, reflecting seasonal demand variations. New York Economy fares, for example, are valid for travel between 25th December 2015 and 13th January 2016. Fares must be booked by 23:59 GMT on 30th November 2015. Update: the Black Friday Sale fare page is now live at ba.com.

BA A380 World Traveller

Overall, average sale fares appear to be 4% lower than in the last comparable World Traveller and World Traveller Plus sale.

The reservation system also shows sale fares being loaded in the airline’s Club World business and First Class cabins, and we will publish a separate list of these as soon as we have collated them.

All sale fares qualify for Avios and Tier Point credit in the British Airways Executive Club frequent flyer programme, as well as OnBusiness points for small and medium sized enterprises enrolled in that programme.

For a full list of longhaul destinations and lowest fares, including the corresponding fare in the last ‘full’ sale (August 2015), click ‘READ MORE’ or scroll down.

British Airways Economy & Premium Economy Sale Fares Loaded 19th August 2015

by Continental Club on August 20, 2015  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

British AirwaysBritish Airways has loaded its late Summer sale of World Traveller (Economy) and World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) fares for travel to destinations worldwide on selected dates. Periods of availability vary by destination, reflecting seasonal and demand variations. As usual though, the best availability exists in the early stages of the promotion booking period.

1400x475-big-british-airways-take-off-carousel

Overall, average sale fares appear to be generally the same or lower than in the last comparable World Traveller and World Traveller Plus sale. The standout change is that, after some time, World Traveller Plus fares – particularly to the East Coast of the USA –  have reverted to levels not seen for a few sales. This may in part due to these fares no longer being the Avios upgrade ‘sweet spot’ that they once were.

One other change is that the booking deadline for this sale isn’t currently published, and the individual detailed fare rules themselves suggest various book-by dates. East Coast USA Economy fares appear to be available until 30th September, while Premium Economy fares show bookable until 25th August 2015. Update 16th September 2015: the sale has now been extended to 29th September 2015.

All sale fares qualify for Avios and Tier Point credit in the British Airways Executive Club frequent flyer programme, as well as OnBusiness points for small and medium sized enterprises enrolled in that programme. Following the April 2015 changes to the Executive Club, earnings rates have changed and Avios and Tier Point amounts can be checked using the Earnings Calculator.

For a full list of longhaul destinations and lowest fares, including the corresponding fare in the last ‘full’ sale (June 2015), click ‘READ MORE’ or scroll down.

Although the fares are also promoted on the ba.com sale page, the fastest way to check availability and to book, visit the Low Fares Finder at ba.com.
