British AirwaysBritish Airways has added to its range of Black Friday promotions with a £301 special fare on its new direct Boeing 787 Dreamliner service to Abu Dhabi. The airline is also offering the opportunity to save an additional £110 by redeeming 13,600 Avios, bringing the fare down to £190.87 return:

Members of the Executive Club will also earn Tier Points and Avios on the fare, meaning that a Gold Executive Club cardholder could make 8,520 Avios back, bringing their net outlay down to 5,080 Avios.

Bookings must be made by 23:59 on Monday 28th November 2016, for travel between 11th January & 20th March, between 21st April & 23rd May, and between 31st May & 10th June 2017.

For travellers wishing to upgrade to World Traveller Plus Premium Economy, a return fare of £716 is also available, which can be reduced to £495.87 by redeeming 32,000 Avios. The potential Avios earn-back is 13,636, leaving a net outlay of 18,364 Avios.

In all cases, the Avios discount does not rely on the availability of ‘pure’ Avios seats for redemption – potentially making this a particularly good and easy use of points.

British Airways: Economy & Premium Economy Sale Fares Available 28th August 2013

by Continental Club on August 28, 2013  |  2 comments • Tagged as: , , , , , ,

British AirwaysBritish Airways has today loaded its 2013 Autumn Sale fares for travel in the airline’s Economy and Premium Economy cabins.

Continental Club maintains a watching brief and, as is usually the case, BA has loaded its sale fares a day before public advertising is expected to begin, for both its World Traveller Economy and World Traveller Plus Premium Economy cabins.

Update: advertising has now begun, with a specific Sale page at ba.com.

A sample basket of North American fares suggests that this sale is slightly better than the last, with fares an additional 3.6% lower in World Traveller, and 2.9% lower in World Traveller Plus.

As always, discounted World Traveller Plus fares offer some of the most attractive travel options, earning full Executive Club mileage and status credits. Avios points may also be used to upgrade to Club World.

Indeed, there are also a few Club World Business Class promotional fares also loaded currently, including New York from £1514 return.

Sale fares are available for travel on various dates between 15th September 2013 and 22nd June 2014. Bookings must be made by 24th September 2013.

In advance of general advertising commencing, the British Airways Low Fare Finder is the best way, as usual, of checking fares and booking.

British Airways: Economy & Premium Economy Sale Fares Available 26th June 2013

by Continental Club on June 26, 2013  |  3 comments • Tagged as: , , , , , ,

British Airways LogoIt’s been six months since British Airways has run a sale in its Economy and Premium Economy cabins, but at last the wait is over and Continental Club has all the fares first.

We’ve been monitoring the situation and, as is usually the case, BA has loaded its sale fares a day before public advertising is expected to begin, in both their World Traveller Economy and World Traveller Plus Premium Economy cabins.

Update: advertising has now begun, with a specific Sale page at ba.com.

World Traveller fares start at £399 return and, in the smaller-but-more-spacious-than-Economy World Traveller Plus cabin, they start from £684 return. Bookings must be made by 16th July 2013, for a variety of travel dates running into next year.

Discounted World Traveller Plus fares with British Airways earn full Executive Club mileage and status credits, and promotional fares are also being offered for connections from the airline’s UK domestic network. Subject to availability, Avios points may also be used to upgrade to Club World.

A first look at the list of fares shows that few are as low as they have been in past sales, but newer destinations such as Colombo in Sri Lanka, and Chengdu in China offer very attractive fares. World Traveller Plus to Johannesburg and Sydney are potentially interesting too, especially if fare availability can be paired with Avios upgrade opportunities to Club World.

Discounted fares are also available on routes scheduled to be operated by British Airways new Airbus A380 aircraft, which are due into service from 15th October 2013 to Los Angeles, and 15th November 2013 to Hong Kong. Click on the flight number when searching fares at ba.com to see the planned aircraft type for any flight.
