Etihad Guest Up To 25% Off Redemptions

by Continental Club on January 22, 2014  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , , , , ,

EtihadMembers of the Etihad Guest frequent flyer programme can save up to 25% on the usual number of miles needed for a GuestSeat redemption in Diamond First Class, Pearl Business Class or Coral Economy Class.

The promotion is open to Etihad Guest members and the airline is promoting the programme with increased availability in all cabins.

Etihad 777

Reduced mileage travel is available between Abu Dhabi and 19 destinations worldwide, including Manchester, Dublin and Frankfurt in Europe; Chicago, New York and Washington in the USA, and Brisbane in Australia.

Tickets must be booked by 6th February 2014, and travel must be completed by 31st March 2014. The terms and conditions also mention that travel must commence by 1st February 2014, but this would seem to contradict the ticket booking deadline, and availability searches show departures up to the 6th.

There’s also a slight discrepancy between the mileages shown on the page linked to below, and the actual mileage needed. The variation is in the member’s favour though, with the advertised mileage of 34,180 Guest Miles from Manchester to Abu Dhabi in Pearl Business Class actually costing 34,062 Guest Miles.

Members needing to top up their Etihad Guest Miles balances prior to redeeming should remember that American Express Membership Rewards can be transferred to Etihad on a 1:1 basis, and recent transfers have posted between 1 and 4 working days after the request is made. Visit americanexpress.co.uk for more information on how to transfer Membership Rewards into Guest Miles.

Etihad Extends Limousine Transfers To UAE Stopovers For All Pearl Business Class Passengers

by Continental Club on June 6, 2013  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , ,

EtihadAbu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad has announced another update to its Etihad Chauffeur limousine transfer service, available to passengers travelling in premium cabin classes on board its services.

The change specifically applies to those travelling in the Pearl Business Class cabin.

Etihad Guest Gold Elite, Gold or Silver members will continue to be offered complimentary limousine transfers throughout their journey, in the UAE and at eligible airports worldwide.

Etihad Chauffeur

However, the new policy extends this amenity to all Etihad Pearl Business Class passengers – the specific change being that non-Gold Elite, Gold and Silver members can now access limousine transfers from and back to Abu Dhabi airport during UAE stopovers. Previously, transfers were limited to a maximum of two one-way transfers per ticketed itinerary, and then only at either origin or final destination airports.

The policy for Diamond First Class passengers remains unchanged.

Multiple Etihad Guest Base level passengers (or non-members) on the same Pearl Business Class booking can also continue to ‘pool’ their Etihad Chauffeur privileges, so that two passengers would together benefit from four one-way transfers at origin and destination, thereby covering all transfer requirements for a round trip itinerary.

As a quick Etihad Chauffeur eligibility guide, the following may be useful:

Pearl Business Class Journeys Commencing/Terminating In The UAE, Or Including An Abu Dhabi Stopover

Etihad Guest Gold Elite/Gold/Silver Members: Etihad Chauffeur thoughout your journey.

Etihad Guest Base/Non-members: Etihad Chauffeur thoughout your journey in the UAE, and two one-way transfers at origin or destination per itinerary.

Pearl Business Class Journeys Not Commencing/Terminating In The UAE, And Not Including An Abu Dhabi Stopover

Etihad Guest Gold Elite/Gold/Silver Members: Etihad Chauffeur thoughout your journey.

Etihad Guest Base/Non-members: Two one-way Etihad Chauffeur transfers at origin or destination per itinerary.

Etihad Guest Gold Status Match

by Continental Club on June 2, 2013  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , ,

EtihadUntil 18th June 2013, existing members of other airlines’ loyalty programmes at a ‘Gold’ level or higher are invited to join the Etihad Guest programme and have their status matched.

ETIHAD GOLD CARD STATUS MATCH

The UAE carrier, which serves both London and Manchester in the UK, is offering a further incentive to successful status matchers: triple Etihad Guest Miles on all flights in Diamond First Class, and double Guest Miles on all flights in Pearl Business Class for a limited period. The eligible travel dates will be communicated to members with confirmation of their new Etihad Guest Gold status.

To apply, the following documents are required:

  • Scanned copy of the gold or higher tier card with another airline
  • Scanned copy of the latest miles statement from that airline
  • Etihad Guest membership number

– and they should together be sent by email to guesttiermatch@etihad.ae.

For more information on the benefits of Etihad Guest Gold membership, visit etihad.com. 500 ‘status match’ opportunities are available, so fast applications will be necessary.

The variation in airlines’ loyalty programme structures means that potential status matchers could be drawn from a wide range of ‘levels’ of frequent travel – Cathay Pacific’s Marco Polo Gold level is equal to British Airways Executive Club Silver, for example, so Etihad’s generic ‘Gold for Gold’ requirement could prove even more attractive to certain programmes’ members than it does to others.

It’s not immediately clear whether the bonus Guest Miles offer might also be ‘stackable’ with the BusinessConnect promotion that we covered here:

Up To Triple Miles With Etihad BusinessConnect – Plus Up To 55,000 Miles Sign Up Bonus

If it does, there may be some very generous mileage earning possibilities for eligible customers this month and next. 500 ‘status match’ opportunities are available

Full Etihad Guest Gold Status Match Terms & Conditions: Only applications received by 18th June 2013 will be considered for this promotion. 500 ‘status match’ opportunities are available. The application will be rejected if the member does not send through all required documents such as the other airline loyalty card, miles statement and Etihad Guest membership number. If the scanned copies of the documents are not clear or if any one of the documents is missing, the application will be rejected. You will receive a confirmation mail informing the status of your application before 30 July 2013. Your current Etihad Guest Miles will be carried forward at the time of upgrade to Etihad Guest Gold. Selection of members for tier upgrade is completely the discretion of Etihad Guest. This promotion is valid till 18 June 2013 only. Further details of the bonus miles offer and validity period will be provided to eligible gold card holders upon confirmation of the tier.

Up To Triple Etihad Guest Miles For Mid-Week Flights

by Continental Club on April 21, 2013  |  Leave a comment • Tagged as: , , ,

EtihadUntil 27th May 2013, existing members of the Etihad Guest frequent flyer programme are being invited to earn up to three times the number of Guest Miles that they’d normally expect to receive.

The UAE carrier, which serves both London and Manchester in the UK, is encouraging mid-week flying, with passengers travelling in Coral Economy Class set to benefit from a double miles bonus, and those in Pearl Business Class or Diamond First Class looking forward to a triple bonus. An example round-trip from Abu Dhabi to New York in Pearl Business Class would therefore net 71,946 Guest Miles – enough for a one-way Pearl Business Class flight from Abu Dhabi to London.

Etihad Diamond First Class

The promotion applies to bookings made at etihad.com, through accredited travel agents and Etihad call centres. There is no bespoke landing page on the Etihad website for the offer, and no registration is required.

Bookings must be made by 26th May for travel by 27th May 2013 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It’s not altogether clear from the limited terms & conditions whether only sectors flown on the relevant days will count, or whether any other sectors in an itinerary which includes travel on those days will count. Neither do the terms explicitly mention overnight flights and how they’ll be treated. In the absence of that clarity, it’s probably wise to work on the principle of only day sectors flown on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays qualifying – and then hopefully being pleasantly surprised. The Ts&Cs do mention that the offer is ‘by invitation’, so check spam filters for email communications.
